Bolt Vase
FredriksonStallard
Hand made by Ian Stallard, this piece explores and amplifies some of the making process by exagerating rather than hiding the jointing of slip cast halves. Silver plated bolts finish the vase and bring to our atttention the tensions between the industrial world and how craft sees itself within it.

The seam of this jointed non conforming vase is embedded with silver plated bolts, bringing industrial marks to a craft object. Emphasizing the juncture created by slip casting, the juncture is rarefied and elevated, creating a heightened awareness of process.
